Teti’s Case Study

Client wanted to update their basement and create a multi-functioning space for entertaining, cooking, exercising, reading, using a sauna, bathroom, game area, and pool table. They also wanted to stay within the existing dimensions of the basement while enabling it to have a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere.

Design Challenges

  1. Incorporate all the clients’ wants into a predetermined space.

  2. Satisfy the tastes/wants of both the husband and wife.

  3. Work with existing plumbing, concrete column supports, windows, and doors.

Solutions

We designed separate zones for all the activities they wanted to incorporate into the space while still having a smooth flowing transition from area to area. We worked around the existing structural supports; changing them from an eyesore to an integral design element.

We brought in a whole seating arrangement, added area rugs, incorporated a full kitchen and bathroom, and designed a space for exercise and entertainment. The basement was livened up with warm cabinetry, dark chocolate tile flooring, and a cool slate blue wall color.
